ABC Accelerator Ljubljana is on the lookout for the best startups in the region!
New program Iot and IoE from ABC Accelerator will take as much as 30 startups under its wings, which is 20 more than usual.
There is no laid-back, summer atmosphere in Ljubljana’s ABC Accelerator. After applications for IoT and IoT closed, ABC team was left with 389 startups and some hard decisions at hand. There were teams from UK, USA, Netherlands, Germany and 34 other countries that applied and only 10 spots open. However, due to the ever growing interest in their programs, ABC decided this was the time to accept 20 more teams into the program and raised the number of attending startups to 30.
The rules of the game inside ABC are also changing. 10 chosen teams will get the initial investment of 15.000 euros and they will also be eligible for a loan up to 35.000 euros at the beginning of the program and up to 300.000 euros at the end of it. The other 20 teams will get free access to ABC’s office spaces, and will be connected to IoT and IoE program, but the most promising teams will have the opportunity to present themselves at one of the three Demo Days that will take place in Silicon Valley, Germany and Slovenia.
ABC introduces the new approach as they are sure it will enable them to help even more ambitious teams, which is a priority considering the growing number of applicants for their programs. Furthermore, with their expansion to Germany and USA the accelerator will be able to match their startups with desired markets and capital even better than before.
Internet of Things became a widely used phrase for a network of physical things connected via software or cloud technology. It ranges from smart homes and smart construction to various wearables. However, Internet of Things is evolving into Internet of Everything as the world is getting more connected and that is also what ABC’s program name implies.
Until the year 2020 up to 50 billion things will be connected via IoT and IoT, and ABC is making sure to help their startups take advantage of this huge opportunity. Data security of connections will represent a major concern in this area, but ABC is one step ahead of the game as it accelerated a few data security related startups during Smart Living & Health. Their ideas will certainly come in handy now.
What will be available to the chosen teams during the IoT and IoE program? Help from various mentors, help with development, access to global investment and partner network of giants such as IBM, Cisco and Lidl, proximity of the biggest shopping center in the region with 21 million yearly visitors, EnaA, Petrol d.d., Zavarovalnica Triglav, free accommodation and one-on-one interaction with ABC’s team. After the first three months, the teams will get a chance to pitch their ideas on Demo Day in front of more than 300 investors, mentors and partners.
There is also good news for the startups that won’t be chosen to participate in IoT and IoE program. ABC will issue a new call to action no later than two weeks after applications for IoT and IoE close, so stay tuned. If you need any information you can always send them an email to.
Until then ABC is eagerly awaiting the new startup generation that will help them shape the future. Starting this week, the team will be conducting Skype calls with the most promising 100!
